They discuss the history of mistrust around medical research—especially among minority communities—and what scientists and institutions can do to change it. Sotto is an associate professor of medicine at the IU School of Medicine; director of All IN for Health and co-director of workforce development at the Indiana CTSI; and health equity lead in the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement.
